Education Help Street Children

Many of these children who end up on the street do not go to school because parents are unable to send them due to lack of finances or, are abandoned due to absence of a father/mother or both, and they may have been forced to leave due to mistreatment and abuse. Over 15% of the population in Haiti are restaveks children; restaveks is a modern-day form of domestic servants, child slavery and often would escape to the street when possible.

Majority of the children who currently live on the streets come from rural areas/villages, because they don’t go to school, they have so much time and nothing to do with it. While our effort focuses on rescuing these children from the streets, we want to find ways to reduce the flow of new children to the streets. The best way to stop the flow is by going to the source of the issue and pluck it by the roots. One of these roots that need to be address is education.

We established a school in the community that is serving 6 vulnerable villages where many streets’ children originated from. Around 100 children have registered so far this year and we anticipate many more. Year by year the numbers continue to increase. With educational development and extracurricular activities these children's lives are being transform and that will make a great impact on society.

Become a monthly sponsor by making a commitment of $20/month or a one-time gift of $240 to help send one child to school. This include tuition and one meal per day which in many cases might be the only meal they will eat that day.

Help us make a lifelong contribution in the life of a child!
