Fendjy was born in the Dominican Republic where his family had move to for better opportunities. The family suffer a tragic death and Fendjy and his mother return to Haiti. Because Fendjy was not going to school and was not provided the basic needs, he started wondering on the streets. With the absence of a father, the mother felt it was better to place him at the orphanage in the hope of a brighter future.
