Sandika recently lost her father. Her mother was left with 8 children. The father used to be the breadwinner (a farmer) since her mother had some physical limitations and could not work. Since the death, the situation has been so desperate that it forces some of the older kids to start fending for themselves on the streets. Fearing that they could starve, the mother asks for help with 2 of the younger kids. She was severely malnourished when she arrived at the orphanage.
